eXtra Years of Zest - Senior Club
Changing our Format
The XYZ Club met at the Church on Thursday, May 5, at 10:00 a.m., for coffee and pastries. Jan Schwarze served as hostess. Twenty-five Club members attended. The purpose of this meeting was to decide on the future of the Club and the format in which it will continue.
Club member Pastor Bill Witt led the group in devotions with a bit of history, thoughts about friendships, and using examples of how Jesus shared meals with others.
From the discussion which followed devotions, the members present concluded that we do want to continue as the XYZ Club and we'll continue to meet on the first Thursday of each month. The format change is that we will meet on the first Thursday of each of the twelve months at our neighborhood Golden Corral on Highway 55. We will meet at 3:00 p.m., in a reserved room, taking advantage of the Early Bird Senior Buffet. Plans are to begin with devotions. Those present agreed this will be a great way to continue our fellowship and friendships without too much effort and stress on anyone. For the first meeting on June 2, 2011, Club members will be telephoned one more time and reminded of the new format and then everyone will need to mark their calendars and plan to attend each month as they can. We also welcome new members who are interested in becoming part of the Club.
FYI: The Club did not meet in April due to the reconstruction of Revere Road directly in front of the church. It was decided the uneven ground and all the detours posed too much risk for members.
