December 2nd 7:30 pm - White Christmas (1954)

Christmas 2011

Christmas is on Sunday this year! We are planning a very special Christmas morning worship for you, your children and grandchildren. Our Advent theme is, "It's Not Your Birthday!" We all know it's Jesus' birthday, but we get all the presents! It doesn't seem fair! But how can we give birthday gifts to Jesus? In Matthew Jesus tells us that whatever we give to the most insignificant person in need is like giving it to him. My challenge is to celebrate his birthday by giving HIM the gifts! We will provide alternative mission gift cards you can give in someone's honor. The idea is to match our Christmas spending with mission giving dollar for dollar. Christmas Sunday worship will be a big birthday party for Jesus where we bring him "presents" for "the least of these". There will be cake, balloons and noisemakers! New Year's Day is on Sunday this year too! Our theme is, "I make all things new!" Please send me a good baby photo of yourself and we will have a baby match-up contest. If you don't have a digital version, I can scan it for you and return it.

Our Mission: Change the World By Making Disciples.

As followers of Jesus, who is the head of the Church (Ephesians 5:23-24), we covenant to relate in the following ways:

  1. To act like servants toward one another. (John 13:3-15)
  2. To love one another like Jesus loves us. (John 13:34)
  3. To love even our enemies. (Matthew 5:44)
  4. To value reconciliation even more than worship. (Matthew 5:24)
  5. To attempt reconciliation in private with a person who offends us before we bring others into the conversation. (Matthew 18:15)
  6. To forgive those who offend us. (Matthew 6:15)
  7. To ignore anonymous complaints. (John 8:3-10)
  8. To speak only for ourselves. (Matthew 5:37)
  9. To fulfill our membership vows to support the congregation with our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service and our witness. (Ecclesiastes 5:4-5)
  10. To humbly consider others better than ourselves. (Philippians 2:3)
  11. To not only look to our own interests, but also to the interests of others. (Philippians 2:4)
  12. To act with respect toward those with leadership responsibilities. (Hebrews 13:17)
  13. To hold to the truth in love, so that all we speak builds up one another and the church. (Ephesians 4:15-16)
  14. To evaluate issues and determine which are important, not focusing on the "small stuff". (Colossians 3:11)
  15. To exercise restraint and patience with one another. (Ephesians 4:2)
  16. To respect decisions and decision making processes of leadership. (Titus 3:1-2)
  17. To be part of the solution, not part of the problem. (Ephesians 4:14-16)
  18. To remember the church belongs to God, and that we are His invited guests. (Psalm 24)
  19. Love keeps no record of wrongs. (1 Corinthians 13:5)
  20. Do not associate with a gossip. (Proverbs 20:19)
